valve just quietly added the ability to ‘trade up’ skins in counter strike global offensive. by sending in 5 covert-grade items ('reds’), you are given a knife or pair of gloves.

'reds’ are usually ~$10 skins. knives have, historically, been in the thousands of dollars.

This is an INCREDIBLY good thing, by the way. CSGO skins (and other similar digital “economy” items) are one of the primary ways gambling sites draw in kids and give them genuine gambling addictions. Legally, I might add, since these items *technically* don’t count as gambling “real” money — the items are only traded for actual cash through unofficial avenues.

CSGO gambling has outright ruined *far more lives* than you would guess, and has been something that Valve has been asked to address for years (and many guessed they weren’t, since it made them money too).

This is MASSIVELY good news.
